About Rice's.

A fresh new place to eat in Diboll, from a family that’s glad you came.

Rice’s Café is a family-owned lunch café built around one simple idea: good food, made fresh, served by people who are happy to see you.

We’re on the mezzanine of Rice Brothers Business Park, a few minutes off US-59. The room is bright and modern, with warm wood, clean lines, and windows that let the pines in. The kitchen cooks from scratch every morning and serves Monday through Friday, eleven to two. It’s Southern comfort food with a lighter, fresher hand, in a space that feels like a farmhouse kitchen got a very good makeover.

If you’re new, sit anywhere. You won’t be a stranger for long.

Fresh, from scratch

Gravy from the pan, dumplings by hand, salads built when you order them. Nothing out of a bag if we can help it.

Family & community

A family name on the door and a room full of neighbors. Lunch should be the best part of the workday.

Diboll proud

We live here, we work here, and we built this place for the people who do too.

The food

Comfort food with a fresh point of view.

Every day brings a different from-scratch plate lunch: chicken fried steak, chicken and dumplings, beef tips over rice, cornmeal catfish with cream cheese corn. Around it, a menu you can count on any day of the week: spring-mix salads with house dressings, a soup that changes daily, burgers and sandwiches with waffle fries or onion rings, and a dessert of the week.

Portions are honest, prices are fair, and nothing on the plate came out of a freezer bag.

The patio

Lunch under the pines.

Off the dining room is a brick patio wrapped in East Texas pines, with umbrellas for the sun and a breeze most days from March through November. It’s the best seat in Diboll when the weather cooperates, and it’s first come, first served.

Indoors or out, the kitchen is open Monday through Friday from eleven to two. Walk-ins are always welcome, and a quick call ahead helps if you’re bringing a crowd.
